2009 Green Mountain Conservation Camp
The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department promise an unforgettable week of outdoor fun for students ages 12-14. Fun and learning include: Vermont’s fish and wildlife, forests & forestry, wetland ecology, building bluebird boxes, and the list goes on. The cost is $200 including food, equipment, and instruction. Band, Orchestra and Small Ensemble Experience for Young Musicians
Colchester, VT- The Vermont Youth Orchestra Association is accepting applications for Music Day Camp, held Monday-Friday, June 22 through 26, 2009. Camp sessions are held daily from 8:45 am – 4:00 pm at the Elley-Long Music Center at Saint Michael’s College.
Music Day Camp offers young musicians an opportunity to develop musical skills while making music in both large and small ensembles. Daily activities include classes in symphonic band, orchestra, chamber music, small ensemble participation, master classes, and individual instruction. Additionally, expanded levels of Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble now accommodate more students in wider ranges of playing ability. Electives are offered in jazz band, improvisation, chorus, music theory, and composition. Special camp features include outdoor recreation and arts & crafts.
Music Day Camp Director Timothy Buckingham is known locally for the outstanding band program he directs at Edmunds Middle School in Burlington. He is joined by a faculty comprised from among the best music educators in the area.
Music Day Camp is open to the following students:
Winds, Brass, Percussion:
·Entering grades 6 – 10 in Fall of 2009
·Minimum of one year of instruction
Strings:
·Entering grades 4 - 9 Fall of 2009
·Minimum of one year of private lessons or two years of school lessons
·Ability to play in the keys of C, G, D, A, F, & B flat
Ensemble Placement will be offered to students in both Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble.
Placement is based upon different variables, including playing experience, and proficiency with required scales, keys and rhythms. Ensemble placement occurs after a student has registered for Music Day Camp. For more information, please refer to the Music Day Camp application, now available online at www.vyo.org

Tuition for Music Day Camp is $250. Financial aid is available.
